Autumn in Umbria

with Vera Dickerson and Robin Poteet

Oral Traditional

In the best of worlds, our friends and co-workers would share our loves, direction and enthusiasm, finish our sentences and be supportive through periods of painting drought.

That’s the relationship that Vera Dickerson and Robin Poteet share. They team teach, following their individual loves;  experimental acrylics for Vera, or transparent watercolor for Robin, but enhance each student’s learning through their shared vision and desire for strong, expressive, personal painting. Vera began her teaching on university level, and was selected as a “Master Teacher” before founding a non-profit art school in 1990. Robin comes from a graphic arts background, and moved from her own design business into fine art watercolor and instructing. Both are passionate about their relationship with classes, sharing, supporting and encouraging the very best from each student. They base their work in strong composition, adding in technical knowledge to help each person find the skills to express that minds eye view.

On site demonstrations, followed by studio instruction will provide the pathway for a memorable, personal record of your two weeks in Italian heaven. Robin records her travels in exquisite handmade journals, and will guide the group in the elements of graphic design, which strengthen these precious memory books. Vera will combine the onsite studies with studio critiques so that the flavor of our days out remain a part of the developed paintings.

Rave Review:

La Romita makes me think a little bit about the way Ghost Ranch might have been for Georgia O’Keeffe. I’ve read a lot of books about her life. It’s a retreat. It’s simple and it’s elegant in its own way. It’s unusual and it’s very, very special. — Robin Peet
