Bob and Fritz return to La Romita for their 4th team taught workshop. With 28 years of teaching experience, Bob can individually assist students with instruction in any media, including oils, acrylics, watercolor and pen and ink. He has developed techniques to help students discover their hidden talents, through the use of value patterns, composition and design. His enthusiasm for art is invigorating and supportive, encouraging students to reach within for inspiration to enhance their artistic competency. He will hold frequent studio demonstrations and friendly, supportive critiques.
Fritz Kapraun holds a PhD from the University of Texas at Austin and has taught botany and environmental science for more than 35 years at the University level. He has significant experience as a biological illustrator.  Emphasis will be on seeing and incorporating critical detail into our compositions. He is particularly interested in using watercolor images to define distinct architectural styles that immediately give us a sense of place. Fritz encourages participants to make critical observations in the preparation of preliminary plein air drawings and paintings, which can be further developed in the studio. He specializes in individual instruction, especially for beginners and intermediate painters.

Rave Review:

La Romita makes me think a little bit about the way Ghost Ranch might have been for Georgia O’Keeffe. I’ve read a lot of books about her life. It’s a retreat. It’s simple and it’s elegant in its own way. It’s unusual and it’s very, very special. — Robin Peet
