For a number of years Marian Dunn wrote and hosted a PBS program on Arts and the humanities, called “Experiencing Art”. The show encouraged interest in all the arts and the creative process and Marian brings that passion to La Romita for the fourth time this coming summer. Her workshop is called “Luminosity..Under the Umbrian Sun”. Luminosity is her specialty in various mediums and her emphasis when she teaches. She will provide insights into painting the beautiful hill towns you will visit from La Romita and is looking forward to sharing her many years of art knowledge and experience with beginners and veterans alike. Students are invited to bring their choice of mediums for this unique Italian opportunity and Marian will gladly provide a materials list and art travels materials list suggestions for any and all. Click here for her website. We can get a wonderful idea of what Marian will bring to La Romita from her mission statement,
“Art has always been a primary factor in my life- even as a child. I was an art major in college with the help of two art scholarships. Since then I’ve never quit studying, traveling with and going to seminars and workshops with some of the finest artists in the US and abroad. I’ve never quit feeling the compulsion to DO IT. I love drawing, printmaking, painting in watercolor, oil, acrylics and pastel, on location or in my studio…put plainly, creating. Luminosity is the greatest goal in my work, no matter in what media. Individual paintings might show my responses to impressions of an object’s contour, a single figure, animals, people at work or at play; the interplay of light and shadow in a landscape or a still life.” Marian has lectured and traveled for museums and taught workshops in Sun Valley, Id., northern California, Salt Lake City, UT and in 2007 gave a two week workshop in the Dordogne region of France.
