Returning to La Romita for her third workshop, Arlene Krogstad is a creative and popular instructor. With over 20 years' experience in teaching drawing, watercolor, and other media to adults, she has developed teaching techniques that bring out and build upon the capabilities and talents of her students, whether beginners, intermediate, or advanced. The unique, often breathtaking Umbrian vistas and local microcosms will provide wonderful opportunities for drawing and water color sketching, and Arlene will demonstrate en plein air technique on the daily guided outings. In the studio, based on sketchbook entries made on location, she will demonstrate creative and fun techniques, including acrylic and collage, with dramatic patterns of lights and shadows. Arlene's love of the charm of Italy and her enthusiasm for the La Romita environment will surely be projected in her relevant demonstrations, critiques, and meaningful, individualized instruction. Throughout the sessions, value patterns, composition, and design will be stressed. Participants will be encouraged to explore and strengthen their own techniques, including the use of other media, if desired. Drawing instruction will be available for those who seek to expand or refine their drawing skills. Arlene is an award-winning artist who has served as juror for many shows and has taught many workshops in the Denver area. Her works are in numerous collections in the United States and Europe.
